John was born in September 1931 in a house next to Leatherhead Vicarage , where his father George worked as a gardener until the outbreak of WW2

John went to Poplar road School and then the Central School in Leatherhead .
He was an alter boy at St Mary and St Nicholas Church and a member of the Boys Brigade

His first job was with the Neils and Spencer Drawing office.
Then came National Service when he first joined the Royal Artillery and then transfered to the Royal Military Police.
After his National Service he joined the Territorial Army

He was a British Legion Standard bearer for over 50 years. He won the Surrey County Standard Bearers competition three times 1962,1963 and 1966.
In 2004 like his Father before him he was awarded a Royal British Legion Gold Badge

He was the manager for Tylers Wine Merchants. East Molesey , Byfleet and Walton on Thames.
He then joined British Aircraft Corperation , amongst other things making parts for Concorde.
Moving on to James Burns The Royal Mills at Esher in Surrey .
He Retired in 1996

In his retirement he enjoyed many happy cruses with his wife round the Baltic /Norway and up the Rhine. He loved his Garden and devoted many happy hours to it. He was devoted to his Wife June , Son Christopher / Daughter Katharine and their family`s

He passed on after a short illness at Broomfield Hospital Chelmsford , Essex.
